ABOUT MEPhil Collins
Phil decided to run for mayor of Las Vegas. On January 31, he filed for that race.
Issues Phil wants to cut wasteful spending. The city paid a company to help the homeless. In October of 2018, the city paid that company $48,500 to exit the contract. No one should paid to not work because that was a waste of taxpayer money. If Phil was mayor and the contract ended, that money would have been used for important government functions. When Phil is mayor, he'll look for other ways to eliminate wasteful spending, so that the money can be spent in other ways and/or so that tax rates can be cut. Phil noticed some buildings that used to be motels, restaurants, and bars. If he wins, he'll try to persuade the owners to reopen the businesses and/or sell them to companies who will open them. If that happens, that would provide jobs for the new employees, and it will provide more choices for consumers. In Feb. 2018, Phil Collins ran for Clark Co. treasurer. He has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arkansas, and he's working on a Masters in Public Administration. While he lived in Illinois, he was a township trustee. He was in the navy for 21 years, including six months near Baghdad. He is an active supporter of his wife Nicole who is a Lutheran pastor. He's a member of the Nevada and Clark Co. Republican Central Committees. He and his wife, Nicole, love life in the desert! |
